As the date rapidly approaches for the construction of our own personal Guildhall we have to ask ourselves, who are we and where do we want to live? I would like to get a consensus on what we want and need, going forth.

((So, rapid progress has been made recently, at least two solid guild lvls I have personally witnessed coming from Dallas's own actions, and the day is coming, as I am sure the rest of you would agree the default Qeynos Guild Hall decor is hilariously aweful and garish. So it's fairly obvious we will be covering it up and making our own Hall the way we like it. And we can do a LOT with the system. Looking for people's preferences not only on general decor, but also what rooms we would like, what amenities, what we don't want and any other little niggles or requirements, IC and OC.
My own preferences stand at: Nothing garish or extremely fantastical such as gem encrusted walls or massive partical effects. Preferably simple stonework or wood paneling (or both, we will have a basement after all). A comfortable feel like that of a small keep or manor house, with an indoor arboretum for relaxation and those more druidy/amphibious types among us with a simple storehouse and workroom with material storage, rush order distribution and appropriate worktables for writ crafting from guild stores (also freeing up guild bank 2 n 3). We would also be served well by a dormatory with a male/female divide for modesty sake containing ample shelving and end tables for personal touches to what would effectively be our bedrooms. If at all possible with the space, a cozy library would also not go amiss. All of the upstairs space is easy to make two story as well so we will have ample rooms with change to spare. Looking forward to hearing your feedback and suggestions.))

((I agree on simple. I'm fortunate enough to have a system that's been able to handle most any place I've ever wanted to be, but I've had several friends who somewhat routinely crash in the fancier halls, which is a bummer. If this is going to be the Home I hope it will be, I'd like to be able to invite anyone over without such fears.
Beyond that, I find I most appreciate the houses and halls that have at least a moderately consistent theme... even if that theme is chaos; if EVERY room is different, that kinda works for me, somehow. That said, chaos as theme only barely passes my theme bar. :-) And THAT said, nearly any theme does seem to work for me.
One suggestion: I'd love for us to make a point of touring favorite houses and halls together, as we're inclined, over the next week or so. I'm guessing that Lewis and Cody will likely head up most of the design stuff, though there are still folks I haven't spent much time with or even met yet; there may be folks who are itchy to dig in beyond you two. Myself, I'm interested in helping as I'm able and would like to have a hand in the thinking about it all, but I'm not a good choice for placing things. Apparently being on a Mac makes aligning things extra funky; some features truly don't seem to work here the way others describe them working for them, most notably the tools for nudging things into place. Ah well.
More soon!))

I have done decorating on both ends of the spectrum and all can be fabulous. I do personally prefer a more simplistic approach. Making the guild hall look like the era of Norrath with the wood and stone I feel is the best way to go. Theo has a great eye for decorating and I offer my services wherever needed. I have 2 level 100 carpenters and am willing to provide whatever I can be of help with.
I curtsey to both Theo and Bao on their decorating and abilities so far as I have seen. Great job !!

Our hall has been freshly minted and I have been hard at work renovating the old stonework in favor of dark wood panelling on the upper floors, the main room is now two tiered with a spiral staircase leading up, the right and rear right rooms are fully paneled, I will work on the left room tomorrow. I have refloored the basement but other than that I'm not totally convinced we need a lot of work down there but will drystone the lot if people prefer that idea. I am considering partial second stories in the left and right anterior chambers, keeping the routes from door to door hugging the walls single story, opening up more rooms in the process, basement and rear chamber will likely remain single story. Have a look around and let me know what you all think. So far we have on the to furnish list: a main room with fireplace, comfy seating and drinks A warroom/office, possibly combined with a library An arboretum, possibly in one of the basement chambers complete with artificial lighting, alters to the assorted gods of our members and water features n pond. A trade room with crafting facilities, bank and broker access and similar amenities, probably in the other basement chamber if room allows Barracks complete with kitchen and bath facilities, likely in a side room over two stories That leaves two or three rooms free by projection which we will need to consider as a group. All in all this hall is ample space for us, we are unlikely to need to consider anything larger as our numbers will very unlikely raise more than twice our current, tops.

((OC notice, we need a crapton of status people! As much as you can donate to the escrow as possible, even from alts, source doesn't matter, most amenities are 5 mil each! Also: when we get our supply depot any and all materials you guys can deposit will help us all immensely in the long term, we may as well share them evenly between us as we use a variety of skills and will have appropriate amenities for rush orders in house soon. Time to go crash now xD thanks for all the effort you guys have put in so far, guild lvl 30 is a major milestone! Go Guild!))

I was thinking of the guild hall décor again. Keeping with the theme of what Norrath looks like and the awesome job that Lewis has done with it so far and I am also going with some of the things Lewis has commented on.
We have a small castle so we should combine a lot of what could go into the Hall. For instance one area could be a "common area" including, tables for eating, some shelves with books and comfy chairs. A smaller area adjacent to the common could be for the cooking. The crafting area could house not only the crafting but the armory, woodworking carpentry etc possibly just with a short wall separating each area. Just a couple of suggestion to help combine areas so that we can get the most from our hall and still have the bar area, bath and sleeping areas combined on either side of an fountain/garden area.
Just a few thoughts : )

I love the castle idea actually. I think a guild "keep" is definitely more in line with the aesthetic / style of our guild.
Sorry I've been away the last few days. You guys have done a great job with the hall so far.

Aye I'm inclined to agree that a lot of the functions of a Guild Hall overlap and as such definitive divides are a tad more difficult, as such perhaps the entire East wing might be well served as a residential quarter containing barracks, kitchen, baths and the like as well as office space. The main hall with its two tiers would do well as a Guild Commons containing dining areas, lounge space, a bar, bookcases and shelving for trophies and nicknacks etc, the West wing may make a fine arboretum paired with training areas with the basement more dedicated to the workspaces and storage facilities of the Guild. There would still be overlap even with such a distribution but there would be a certain flow from one area to another. Just as an update the main structural design is nearly finished, I need maybe one more day to polish things off ready for decorating, the more input received the better, the only bad suggestions are the ones not made.

So I finally got to the hall; it's AMAZING! Even at this early stage it's a joy to be in. Fabulous work, Lewis!

The Hall is now really taking shape, all the basic structures are in place it's mostly a matter of furnishing, Baobor has kindly agreed to take the Armoury and Teazzia has taken on our Guild Bathhouse. At this juncture I would like to ask our Guild Gardener: Anahid if she would like to get her green thumb into our arboretum (left hand room, up the stairs, shared with the training area) and if Brandiberri would like to take on the duties of furnishing our Kitchen? If so please place all requisition lists on my desk and I will have them filled. Much obliged, Theobod.

Just an update: most rooms are at the finishing touches stage now, anyone who fancies feel free to place any little personal nicknacks on the various tables, shelves, display cases and bookcases scattered about the hall at large and especially in the dormitories to make this hall feel like a home. Thanks to Brandiberri who has accepted the responsibility of furnishing the kitchen and hiring on a cook for us.

((We have oodles of spare item spaces left to fill, even if we leave 20 free for fiddle room and circumstantial changes and assume that we will end up with 20 more wall hangings, paintings and trophies and that Brandi, Baobor and Teazzia need 30+ more items each in their projects that's well over 100 space spaces for finishing and personal touches. So go nuts.))

Greetings to all
Our bath house is nearly complete. It is functional for all your necessities. I will just need to make a few more adjustments in the near future. Thank you for your patience in the process of getting this facility complete for you. Please enjoy. **smiles**
